We discussed a couple of things about this book so far. We thought his brothers and sisters wanted desperoux to be a normal mouse and not the way he was that is probably why he didn’t like having his brothers and sisters. We also thought desperoux was very exited when he met princess pea because he fell in love with her. Overall we really liked this book!

Despereaux
Despereaux is a mouse.
He lives in a huge house.
He was born small, and his ears were tall
and he was such a great despair.
No one really cared because his love with
Princess Pea he shared.
They tied something around his head, it
was indeed really red thread.
He was taken away into the dungeon
and he was there to stay….
or was he???????
Marshall- The mouse I am talking about is like me because he can fall in love and you can get punishments for that. The punishments I get is from my Dad. Despereaux gets it from other people. Some people don’t want me to like anyone. Despereaux wants to stand up for his love and I do to. He has to be asked lots of questions and we will both stand up even when we are going to be eaten. We want to be with our true love.

Despereaux's motivation is love. He loves Princess Pea with all his heart. He just keeps going for love.
He doesn't let what other poeple think about him get him down.
He tends to not act like a mouse. Such as, he loves to read stories.
He was born small and he doesn't really act like a mouse should.
If I loved someone I would push as hard as I could to save them or be with them.
Naomi- Theme Detective-
I think the theme of this book is love. Despereaux loved the Princess so much that he risked his life just to save her in the dungeon. Also the king abandoned soup from the palace because the queen died when she was eating soup. That is how much he loved her.

He is a good mouse inside and out.

No, because he was a very good mouse and was just trying to be himself.

No, he is just being himself.
We said Despereaux was very down to earth because even when his brothers and sisters didn't like him he was still himself. Also, Despereaux was a very good mouse inside and out.
